Sharing Knowledge about Atransferrinemia and Apotransferrin
http://www.apotransferrin.com
Congenital atransferrinemia is a very rare disease in which there is absence of transferrin, a plasma protein that transports iron through the blood. This disease is characterized by a mycrocitic hypochromic anemia, and iron deposition in the heart and liver (hemosiderosis). Four out of the nine atransferrinemia patients in the world were still alive at last report (Beutler 2000). Three out of these four patients were treated with purified apotransferrin. Thus it is crucial getting apotransferrin for congenital atransferrinemia patients.
