The USC Department of Surgery encompasses organized divisions in
foregut and pulmonary surgery; hepatobiliary/pancreatic surgery and liver
transplantation; breast, soft tissue tumor, head and neck surgery;
colorectal surgery; trauma surgery; plastic surgery; emergency non-trauma
and laparoscopic surgery; vascular surgery and pediatric surgery. Each
year, more than $1 million in extramural grants supports the department's
long tradition of involvement in both basic and clinical research. A number
of research studies are conducted in collaboration with other departments
of the School of Medicine, including the Department of Medicine and its
divisions of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, infectious diseases, and
oncology.
