NCMEC was created in 1984 as a public-private partnership and serves as the national clearinghouse for information on missing children and the prevention of child victimization. NCMEC works in partnership with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) of the Office of Justice Programs at the U.S. Department of Justice. NCMEC's state-of-the-art Web site at www.missingkids.com brings images and
information about missing children, as well as a wealth of child protection information, to a global audience.
