Oxycodone Information, Detox and Treatment Solution
One of the most addictive drugs available is also known as a prescription drug. Oxycodone, which was actually developed in Germany in the 1900's,
is a narcotic substance that is basically a painkiller. For those who haven't used it or really know what it is, it's a drug that is quite similar to Morphine.
Many people who are addicted to this drug can easily go to their general practitioners and complain of intense back pain, and just as easily receive a prescription for it.
Sadly, most people do not realize how highly addictive this drug is the first time they use it.
There are several side effects of this drug that, if received from a doctor, will be adequately communicated to the person receiving it. These side effects include,
but are not limited to: severe headache, dizziness, vomiting and/or upset stomach, sleep deprived or overtired, as well as weakness. If you experience symptoms of
irregular heartbeat, swelling of tongue, tremors, vision problems as well as confusion, these symptoms are general to allergic reaction and medical attention should
be sought immediately. Imagine people buying this drug on the street. They would have no knowledge of these horrible and potentially life threatening side effects.
When someone has overdosed on this drug, they may experience some of the above symptoms. However, overdose generally has its own set of symptoms that can be severe
in their own right. Constipation, blue lips and nails, diarrhea, yellow eyes or skin are all common symptoms of Oxycodone overdose. These symptoms are very mild
compared to the severity of the ones that could also occur. Addicts who are suffering from an overdose will go into circulatory and respiratory depression,
cardiac arrest, shock and then coma. Unfortunately, even with the risk of all these symptoms happening, people still abuse this drug.
Legal authorities have been working hard to investigate this problem in North America. They have been analyzing all the facts, evidence and methods available,
and are desperately trying to gain control over the situation. This process is referred to as Epidemiology. Not only are the legal authorities working on this,
but there have also been scientists working on finding alternatives to this drug that would be a lot less addictive. Aside from these valuable resources, the
community is trying to really tackle the addiction problem by offering many varieties Oxycodone detox and Oxycontin® treatment, both inpatient to outpatient.
There are several places in both Canada and the US that offer excellent detoxification programs. The main goal of most of these places is to provide top quality
services in a calm, relaxed environment. What you will notice when visiting these places is that they are usually located in quiet, serene places.
The other half of the battle is treatment. There are many different types of treatment available in North America. There is inpatient treatment specially designed
for addicts with severe addictions. This means the addict will live in this place for an undetermined amount of time, and work daily with counsellors to break
away from the drug and keep away from it. There is also outpatient treatment available for less severe addictions. This means that the addict isn't forced to stay
there; they just need two appointments to discuss their progress. Being able to focus on detox and treatment is where everyone in North America should be.
Together, we can stop this addiction from taking over.
